Rolf Giesen’s Puppetry, Puppet Animation and the Digital Age explores the unique world of puppetry animation and its application in the digital age. With the advent of digital animation, many individuals see puppetry and 2D animation as being regulated to a niche market. Giesen’s text argues against this viewpoint, by demonstrating the pure aesthetic value they have, as well as examples of some of the greatest cinematic uses of puppets. Such samples include, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, Ladislas Starevich, O’Brien, Harryhausen and Danforth, Trnka and Švankmajer, Aardman and Laika Studios, ParaNorman, and the Boxtrolls. Even live-action blockbusters, such as the Star Wars saga utilize puppetry for costume applications as noted within the text. The use of puppets not only helps create a wonderous world and memorable characters, but is also one of the purest extensions of an artist

Quote from back of book, "the book stresses how the figure sketcher should handle his subject, how he should actually put down surface lines and prominences on paper." That is the difference between this and most other anatomy books, always keeping in mind the relationship of anatomical facts and their relevance in drawing the figure. The book begins by explaining the study of form: what lines mean, the use of planes, and proportion. His philosophy is very different than the usual art instruction book, and this book is filled with many useful quotes: "If you begin to model, you may either regard the form as built up of planes, or '...' rounded forms. Both of these predilections are wrong, as well as right;the planes make too many sharp edges, the round masses make none at all. One would say, side with truth, not with imaginary standards, especially as they seem to be proving false. But the draughtsman must begin somewhere." Most writers won't admit to this common sense kind of thinking. The bulk of the text, of course, deals with the figure, and goes over: the basic forms and masses of each part, the bones and muscles, and which lines are most important in drawing the part. The book ends with a chapter on drapery, which would usually require a second book. Highly recommended.

The 2nd edition of The Care of Prints and Drawings provides practical, straightforward advice to those responsible for the preservation of works on paper, ranging from curators, facility managers, conservators, registrars, collection care specialists, private collectors, artists, or students of museum studies, visual arts, art history, or conservation. A greater emphasis is placed on preventive conservation, a trend among collecting institutions, which reflects the growing recognition that scarce resources are best expended on preventing deterioration, rather than on less effective measures of reversing it. Expanded and richly illustrated chapters include:
