'The Dirty Drummer' MPC Finger Drumming Kit is the ultimate drum kit for anyone looking to create their own vintage-style acoustic drum breaks within their MPC. This multisampled acoustic finger drumming kit is fully optimised for creating very realistic live drum performances, with velocity switched pads capable of playing multiple timbres laid out in an incredibly intuitive fashion across the 16 pads of 'bank A' of your MPC.

The drum sounds themselves are chopped, tweaked and carefully processed from live drumming performances by the modern master of the live vintage drum sound, Timmy Rickard (as featured in our live break pack 'Dirty Drum Breaks Vol 1'). Thick, warm and dope with a huge bottom end. In total there are 80 multisampled sounds covering all the drums needed for a classic vintage sounding drum kit – kicks, open and closed hats, snares, rim shots, and ride & crash cymbals.

The following video runs through the main features of the kit and includes some example performances on a number of different MPC models:

Thanks to its unique layout and use of built-in MPC program parameters, the kit is able to play multiple timbres of each instrument with 'FULL LEVEL' both on or off. With the kit loaded, you have access to 44 drum sounds including 6 different timbres for each instrument (3 velocity switched timbres per pad), plus there’s 36 additional timbres available in the ‘Extras’ folder, including a completely different snare and hat instruments that can be used to replace the primary snare and hats in the pre-loaded kit (these alternate sounds can be heard in the MPC2500 section of the video above).

Ghost notes and snare rolls are really easy to perform, with dedicated 'soft' hit pads allowing for very authentic three-pad snare rolls. Also included are velocity sensitive attack/tuning/level settings to further enhance the dynamics available on each pad.

This means that your kit is incredibly realistic and expressive whichever method you use to play it, giving you the 'real drummer' feel every time. It's perfect for live performances and real time recording - and of course step edit sequencing is a doddle with this kit, allowing you to quickly build your own custom breaks within your sequencer. And as it's a standard MPC drum program it can be further edited just like any other program; ADSR, filters, effects, mixer settings, LFO - tweak it, mangle it, do whatever you need to do to suit your current project.

MPC-Tutor has painstakingly optimised the kit for a number of different MPC models, taking full advantage of the different program parameters available. It's fully compatible with the MPC Renaissance/MPC Studio, MPC1000, MPC500, MPC2500, MPC5000, MPC4000, MPC2000XL, MPC2000, MPC3000 and all versions of JJOS, with a special ’12 pad’ version for MPC500 users which takes into account its unique 3-column layout. It even works in Maschine too - check out Saint Joe's review on BoomandBap.com:

Additionally, this kit can also be used as the perfect 'MPC finger drumming' template - load it up, substitute your own drum sounds to each pad, and start playing immediately - no need to tweak hundreds of program parameters as it's already done for you.

Finally there’s also a twelve page set up book included that explains the technical set up of the kit in more detail, including a guide on how to configure the pads for your ideal playback sensitivity and handy tips on achieving the most realistic drumming performances.

The 'Dirty Drummer MPC Finger Drumming Kit' is the only truly dedicated multisampled MPC finger drumming kit commercially available today, created by an obsessive MPC head who builds sample packs specifically for MPCs. Your MPC was built for playing drums, so give it the food it needs and leave this pack permanently loaded into memory!
