You will learn this by working with white charcoal on black paper, which produces vibrant, striking portraits. I'll show you how I select my reference images and how I edit them in order to make them stand out more. We'll go in-depth in understanding value in artwork and do some practice exercises to express value with just one tool: a white charcoal pencil.
We will go through three different methods that you can use to draw your own striking portrait and draw five different portraits with the methods. In each each example, I'll demonstrate how I approach drawing them and how I apply the techniques.
