Hearts are a classic shape, whether they are symmetrical or imperfectly shaped, which allows artists to add unique elements with texture, color, and overall shape. Watercolor techniques offer intriguing ways to fill the shapes and bring them to life. In today’s class, we’ll create half pages of watercolor hearts, (with an in depth look at three techniques) and then scan the image into a computer. That process gives us a digital file which we can then enhance, duplicate, or scale in size. This process of creating patterns from a small work is the focus of the second part of today’s class.
