Come along for the ride as production wiz Thomas Cochran unveils the secrets to producing a track in the style of Travis Scott in this deep-dive U Produce™ video course! You'll learn how to program a Scott-style beat, slice and dice samples, and much more. All the plug-ins Thomas uses are listed, but you can apply these techniques and ideas to your own set of plug-ins if necessary. The individual tracks from the session are included as well, so you can work along with your DAW while you watch!

Thomas kicks things off with a brief description of what's to come in this series and a quick playthrough of the final track you'll be learning to create, so you'll know what the final aim is. Then it's down to business, and he begins the process by creating the main sample that'll be featured in the track. Then you'll learn how to apply the proper effects to help everything come together nicely.

Next up, Thomas creates a second, darker, downtempo sample for the switch-up in classic Scott fashion that'll be used for the outro sample and again applies some effects to fully polish it. This is followed by a tutorial on sample manipulation, including chopping, re-pitching, and arranging.

The beat comes next, and you'll see all that's entailed, from finding the right samples to programming the beat and adding a clipper to add some saturation and drive. He then fills out the beat with some extra percussion samples, 808 bass, and a vintage-flavored Moog-style synth bass for the song's second half.

For the beat during the second half, Thomas introduces a new groove with a half-time feel.Thomas then fleshes out the track with a few final layers and concentrates on the arrangement to bring all the pieces together. Finally, he demonstrates how to add the finishing touch by using some saturation and console emulation.
